Wikipedia says – “mountain range in the south-western part of Ukraine, which are part of the Beskydy East, and more specifically the Wooded Beskyd Mountains being the wildest part of it”. It is also mentioned that the area has always been marked by low population density, there is no major settlements, and the mountains are considered to be one of the wildest in Europe. And that’s where I wanted to go on the bike. I dreamed about this trip after I crossed in spring 2012 an idyllic way Transcarpathia, making an arc-shaped U – from Lviv, the Uzocka Pass, Slovakia and Polish Bieszczady to Przemysl. Then I thought that I need to go even further to the east where the mountains are more natural, less altered by man, wild and beautiful. Of the three strands of the Eastern Carpathians – Gorgany, Świdowca and Chornohora, I chose the former and the wildest. And the name “Pass Legions” knocked on my mind and became the main goal.
