We both agree: Norway far exceeded our expectations. It is one of the best country in terms of quality of life, and the fjords of Norway rank among the most beautiful places in the world. The combination of mountains with water brings me the Alps to mind, and they have always been for me essence of beautiful mountain landscape.
You can comfortably cycle in Norway. Roads with good surface, although often the width of one car, traverses the steep slopes of the fjords or climb high up between glacial outliers. Climbing the mountain we became the cause of traffic jams, but never heard the horn from impatient drivers. Cyclist is respected and most drivers overtaking take the opposite lane.
We slept near a small fishing harbor on the Hardangerfjord in a beautiful, empty mountain valley and the turquoise blue lake under the glacier tongue. However do not make me remember what was the water temperature during the evening toilets! :)
